Maori
Māori, or Te Reo Maori, is an indigenous language from Aotearoa/New Zealand. After being systematically rooted out and replaced by English by European colonizers, Te Reo was rescued from the brink of extinction by a fantastic revitalization in the 1970s. Now, Māori phrases are mixed in with the Kiwi lexicon and taught in NZ schools, from a cheery “Kia Ora” to a polite “Mā te wā”, Te Reo is a vital part of the Land of the Long White Cloud’s culture.
As Duolingo, Babbel, and other prominent language-learning websites do not yet offer Maori, SpeechStudy is here with helpful resources to assist you in your language-learning journey. Noho ora mai!

Farsi
Farsi, or Persian, is spoken by 130 million people worldwide, more than Italian, Gujarati, Thai, and Polish. Primarily used in Iran, Afghanistan, ( though the Farsi dialect of Dari is more commonly spoken there ) and Tajikistan, it is also spoken in Uzbekistan, Türkiye, parts of Russia, and throughout the Iranian diaspora across the world. Despite centuries of Arab, Mughal, and Mongol conquest, Iran’s people were able to preserve their distinctive tongue, and it “broke the monopoly” on Arabic as the language of the Islamic world, with poetry composed by the Tajik poet Rumi in Persian becoming some of the most famous in Central Asia. This tradition of Farsi’s use in the arts and entertainment is continued through today, as recently as the hit Israeli spy thriller Tehran, popular with both Western and Israeli audiences.
Since many popular language learning websites such as Duolingo or Rosetta Stone do not offer Farsi, it is a mission of SpeechStudy’s to add good Farsi content to help you embark upon your Persian journey. Good luck and khoda hafez!
