Level Two: Music
"Poi E" by Patea Maori Club - Written in the 1980s, this one hit wonder was composed to help young Maori feel proud of their culture. Combined with hip-hop and other elements of African-American genres such as gospel and funk, as well as traditional Maori chanting, this song was a hit in both Aotearoa/New Zealand and the U.K., and has a place in Kiwiana forever.
"Te Ao Mārama" by Lorde - Recently released Maori language EP based off of her latest album.
